Organizing and sharing your insights
The Dashboards provides a high-level overview of your site’s key metrics using graphs and charts. Through regular viewing, your Dashboards enable you to stay on top of your most important metrics by filtering and comparing an aggregate of demographic and user-behavior metrics. You can edit and save changes to your Dashboards, while also clicking through to each of Hotjar’s tools via the Dashboard to go deeper into the data.
Trends give you the power to create and compare custom metrics in Hotjar that you can visualize in charts, track over time, and add to your Dashboard. Metrics you've created can be used to spot trends and help you to stay on top of conversions and product usage.
Learn where and why users drop off with Funnels. Connect the dots between your numbers and the real user behavior behind them. Find and fix conversion pitfalls anywhere in your funnel, fast.
Highlights and Collections
Highlights allow you to capture snippets of your Recordings and Heatmaps and group them into Collections that you can share and analyze with your team. Grouping these insights together in one place helps your team to identify patterns, validate assumptions, and prioritize brilliantly.
How is Hotjar different from Google Analytics?
Hotjar is not an alternative to Google Analytics. In fact, Hotjar should ideally be used together with a web analytics solution. That's why we've built an integration between Hotjar and Google Analytics.
While web analytics software tools like Google Analytics will give you data about the pages your users are visiting (for example, which page has the highest bounce rate or conversion rate), they will not show you how your users are really using the pages themselves.
With Hotjar, you can understand your web and mobile site users by seeing how they interact with your pages and by understanding why they behave the way they do. This allows you to quickly identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
Google Analytics reports that your homepage has a very high bounce rate. Hotjar will tell you exactly why that is happening, using Heatmaps, Recordings, and Surveys, allowing you to make the changes needed to decrease bounce rate.
Integrations and APIs
We also have several APIs available on certain Hotjar plans. These allow you to send user attributes to Hotjar via the Identify API, send events to Hotjar via the Events API, export survey responses into other tools and automate user lookup and deletion via the Hotjar API.
