Go to hotjar.com to copy the Tracking Code from the Hotjar admin.
From the Admin menu, select System > Configuration.
In the panel on the left, select Design.
Click to expand the HTML Head section.
In the Miscellaneous Scripts text box, paste the Hotjar Tracking Code.
Click the Save Config button.
Disable Placeholder Polyfill
When using Magento, we also suggest applying the following change to our Tracking Code as it might cause some issues for IE9 users: Disabling Placeholder Polyfill
Once you have added the Hotjar Tracking Code to your site, you will need to wait a few minutes for Hotjar to check if it is installed correctly. This usually happens the moment your site is loaded with the Hotjar Tracking Code on it (you can visit the page yourself to speed it up). Once Hotjar has detected the Tracking Code on your site, the Site Dashboard will show a notice like the one below:
If sometime after installing the Tracking Code your website undergoes a major design change where themes and template files are replaced or content in your <head></head> tags or anywhere else the Tracking Code is installed, are replaced, it's a possibility you will need to re-install the Tracking Code.
After making major design changes, check to ensure your Tracking Code is still installed.
