This guide shows you how to install Hotjar on Magento 2.3.1 or newer.
Hotjar has chosen not to support older versions due to incompatibilities with JavaScript libraries used with Magento 1. This incompatibility also affects Magento Enterprise Edition 1.14 and lower. Magento 1 will reach its end of life in June 2020.
Hotjar only supports Magento 2.3.1 or newer
A known bug in versions of Magento older than 2.3.1 will cause your site checkout to break when using Hotjar. You will need to upgrade to Magento 2.3.1 or newer to install Hotjar.
Go to your Hotjar dashboard, and copy the Hotjar Tracking Code.
From the Admin menu, select Content, then Configuration.
Click Edit in the Action column for the site you want to add Hotjar to.
Click to expand the HTML Head section.
Paste the Hotjar Tracking Code in the Scripts and Style Sheets box.
Click Save Configuration.
Verify the installation from your Hotjar Dashboard.
Keep Tracking Code in mind when making design changes
If after you install the Tracking Code, your website undergoes a major design change check to ensure your Tracking Code is still installed.
