Hotjar captures Recordings and Continuous Heatmap data based on tracked user sessions. To start tracking sesions, you'll need to enable Session capture. Only a site admin can enable or disable Session capture in your Site Settings.
Enabling/disabling Session capture
Admin-level permissions are required to configure Site Settings.
If you do not have the ability to edit the configurations in Site Settings, reach out to an admin in your organization for assistance. If you're not sure which team members have the necessary permissions, check out Team Member permissions.
Click on Settings, then Sites & Organizations
Select the Site you want to toggle Recordings on or off for.
Click on the cog icon next to the Site settings you need to edit.
Click on the Session Capture toggle.
Session Capture applies to Recordings AND Continuous Heatmaps
Keep in mind that disabling Session capture will disable new data collection for both Recordings and Continuous Heatmaps.
The Session capture toggle allows you to toggle data capture on or off. This will immediately halt all data collection. Feedback tools will continue gathering user responses as normal, and Manual Heatmaps will continue collecting data based on their own targeting settings.
