[Preview] The Hotjar Referral program

The Hotjar Referral program is designed to reward you when encouraging others to subscribe to Hotjar. When you refer new paying customers to Hotjar you are eligible to claim different rewards.

All Hotjar users, including you, have a unique referral link that you can use to promote Hotjar and refer new customers. Once a contact you referred via your unique referral link becomes a paying Hotjar customer -  you are then eligible for a reward. 

Rewards

We regularly talk to our users about our referral rewards, as we want to know what rewards make the most sense to you. 

Our current reward system is as follows:

For every successful referral, you are eligible for a $100 gift voucher which can be redeemed in the following ways:

• $100 as an Amazon voucher - (check country availability)

• $100 as a charitable donation

What is a successful referral?

A successful referral only counts when the referred contact subscribes to a Hotjar paid plan. Referrals that are still on trial are not considered successful, thus you will not be able to claim a reward just yet. Referrals that stay on a Hotjar basic (free) plan after their trial ends, are not considered successful.

A referral will not qualify for a referral reward if:

• They are already a Hotjar user

• Self-referrals (referring your self or your own organization) 

• The referral signed up for Hotjar using your unique referral link but is still on a trial

*Note: At the moment, we’re experimenting with the rewards we’re offering. You might see different incentives from other users. Don’t worry—all the rewards are still worth getting!

To double-check which rewards apply to you, please look at the email we sent you regarding the referral program or take a look at the referral page on your Hotjar account. The email and referral page will always show the rewards that apply to you.

Track referrals and referral link 

To access your dashboard and referral link, click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the top right corner of your Hotjar account, followed by Refer and Earn from the dropdown. 

You can track your referrals via your overview tab where you’ll be able to see the number of contacts that have signed up for Hotjar and are currently on trial, how many have purchased a Hotjar plan, and the total amount of rewards you are eligible for. 

Disqualification

We value the hard work our users invest to teach, share, and promote Hotjar. Our engineers have developed a robust system for detecting and tracking cheaters.

Users who abuse our referral program, refer fake, invalid sign-ups or use a VPN are flagged and disqualified from participating in the program. 

Availability

The Hotjar referral program is available worldwide - meaning that anyone from any country can participate. 

However, not all reward options are available worldwide.

Once any of your referred contacts become a successful referral you can expect an automated email with instructions on how to claim your reward. 

Due to the need to validate referrals, it can take up to 10 days to process your reward from the day you claim it.
