Do Not Track, DNT, is done by adding a header that disables tracking of an individual user.
If you go to a site with DNT turned on, it would send a request to get the page. It's then up to either that server, or the page itself, to decide whether to respect this or not.
Hotjar honors the Do Not Track header, this means that if a viewer has the DNT header installed, Hotjar will not track that user.
Poll, Survey, Incoming Feedback and Recruiting widgets still work, as we consider submissions to be explicit.
The Opt-Out option we provide is a further measure to set a third-party cookie that specifically tells the Hotjar script not to track this user. With or without this we still honour the Do Not Track header.
