On the 24th of October 2018 at 21:15 CET / 17:15 EST, our engineers identified an issue with our CDN which was causing delays with retrieving the hotjar script for visitors in Europe.
Why did this issue occur?
Our CDN provider was in the middle of a maintenance period that was only meant to affect access to their admin interface. During this incident, we noticed that our latencies and rate of 5xx errors when retrieving from static.hotjar.com had increased. The issue was isolated to traffic bound to the EU.
This has happened twice: 19:53-20:04 UTC and 20:06-20:13 UTC and is currently stable. Our CDN provider was able to solve the issues on their end.
What effect did this issue have on my site?
It did not affect Hotjar users' sites.
What effect did this issue have on my data?
For users in Europe data from sites would not have been collected during this short time.
