Email verification does not apply if you sign up with Google SSO
If you use Google SSO, all you need to do is connect and authorize to ‘Sign up with Google’. Hotjar will automatically verify you are the owner of the email.
If you choose to sign up by email, the below process will apply.
Email verification for new Accounts
During the sign-up process with Hotjar, if you opt to sign up using email, you will be asked to verify your email address. The flow of this process should be smooth, but in case you run into any difficulty, here are the steps that should be followed:
Fill out sign up fields and click Get started.
Enter your name, email address, and desired password. You must accept the Terms of Service in order to proceed past this step.
Check your inbox for an email with your verification code.
If you don't see the email, be sure to check your spam and bulk mail folders.
Note: This link will expire after 24 hours. If the link has expired, please start the process again.
Return to the form and enter your verification code to complete the sign up process.
If you receive an error that This email is already in use, then you won’t be able to sign up using that email address. You can attempt to log in using the email and if you can’t remember your password, use the Forgot password option on the login page.
Why didn’t I receive a verification email?
The email should arrive in your inbox immediately. If you do not see an email from Hotjar in your inbox, please make sure to check your spam folder. If after several minutes the verification email from Hotjar does not arrive, please go through the signup process again.
The link that Hotjar sent me has expired - what should I do?
When you sign up for Hotjar and enter your email address, a verification email will be sent to your inbox. The verification email from Hotjar has a token that will last for 24 hours. If the token has expired, please go through the signup process again and verify your email.
