What is the Hotjar Partner Program?

Who can sign-up?
The Partner Program is open to anyone who recommends and uses Hotjar to help their clients provide better product experiences. Ideally, you'll have a group of clients who need a solution like Hotjar. Plus points if you're a Hotjar advocate, ready to encourage its use to achieve exponential growth.
How does it work?
We want to create a partnership that rewards you for working with us. Here's how the Hotjar Partner Program works:
Your company introduces clients to Hotjar and helps educate them on the benefits our solution brings. Hotjar compensates your partnership with the following benefits:
- Make money: Earn a revenue share of up to 25% for as long as your referral has a paid plan with us.
- Become a Hotjar pro: Learn how to include Hotjar in your services and hone your skills with tailored training and priority support at every step.
- Promote your business: Participate in case studies, press releases, speaking opportunities, and co-marketing.
- Get the inside scoop: Try our latest features and product launches before anyone else.
What’s the payout?
We'll pay out a share of the revenue for every client you refer to Hotjar. That share increases based on the length of the contract:
- Earn 15% revenue for sign-ups on a monthly contract.
- Earn 20% revenue for sign-ups on an annual contract.
- Earn 25% revenue for sign-ups on a multi-year contract.
How much could I earn?
- Refer 10 clients and earn $11,670* every year.
- Refer 50 clients and earn $58,350* every year.
- Refer 75 clients and earn $87,525* every year.
*Based on referring a multi-year $389/per month Hotjar plan.
When do payments stop?
We'll stop paying you if the customer you've referred stops using Hotjar, or if you leave the Partner Program. If your client no longer works with you but continues to use a Hotjar paying subscription, you will keep receiving your commission.
What happens if I have customers inside an agency account?
Unfortunately, "Sites" under your own agency account do not qualify as referrals. For your commission to be attributed to you, your referrals need to sign up for Hotjar themselves, using your unique referral link. The process you should follow to ensure you get paid is:
- Share your unique referral link with your customer.
- Your customer signs up using that link.
- Your customer subscribes to a paid plan.
I filled in my application and didn't receive an answer, what should I do?
Please check your spam folder, as the email might have landed there. If it has been over a week since you applied, please reach out to partners@hotjar.com to ask about the status of your application.
What’s the difference between the Partner Program and Referral Program?
The Referral Program and Partner Program are two different programs. The Partner Program is aimed at businesses who want to resell Hotjar to their clients as part of their service offering or an additional value add. Partners are then compensated based on the number of clients that become paying customers of Hotjar.
The Referral Program is open to everyone, not just companies. With this program, there is a monthly leaderboard of referrals and the prizes are listed in the table below:
Where do I access the Referral Program?
The Referral Program is accessible from your Overview page by clicking the Settings dropdown and selecting the "Refer & Earn" option.

I am a startup incubator. Can I somewhat transfer my reward to my startups?
Unfortunately, we are not able to change the Partner Program terms. However, by using your unique referral link, your startups will receive a 30 day free Business trial in their newly created account.
