Heatmaps are only designed to evaluate the following actions on mobile devices:
- Tap
- Scroll
Additional touch-screen related actions, such as a pinch, horizontal swipe, or press-and-drag action are not tracked. Below are some examples to clarify:
Swiping through a horizontal carousel or image gallery - Hotjar does not track these touches as taps, and if the movement is horizontal, a scroll event will not be recorded either.
Swiping vertically to scroll down a page - Hotjar will record the scroll event, but will not record a tap event.
Pressing on the screen firmly and dragging to scroll down a page - Hotjar will record the scroll event, but will not record a tap event.
